Japan’s Nansei Steel recently donated 12 million yen to three border primary schools in Hekou County, Yunnan Province, The funds aim to improve the learning and living conditions for local ethnic minority students.
In the remote mountainous areas of Hekou Yao Autonomous County, many rural schools still operate in buildings constructed in the last century. During an on-site inspection, Nansei Steel’s Chairman Inafuku Makoto and President Liu Guoli observed the harsh conditions faced by children: no hot water supply in winter, inadequate bedding for cold weather, damaged playgrounds prone to waterlogging, and rudimentary cafeteria facilities.
To tangibly improve educational conditions in the border region, Nansei Steel decided to donate the special fund of 12 million yen, which will be primarily used for:
1. Renovating the old playground and building a standardized sports field
2. Installing a solar water heating system to solve the winter water supply problem
3. Purchasing new bedding sets and unified school uniforms
4. Upgrading cafeteria equipment to improve the student dining environment
5. Renovating the football field
“We were deeply moved to see children persevering in their studies despite such difficult conditions,” said President Liu Guoli. “As a company, we hope to contribute to improving education conditions in border regions so every child can grow up in a better environment.”
Nansei Steel has long been committed to social responsibility, and this donation marks another significant philanthropic effort in China. President Liu pledged continued support for the project and called for more organizations to join in supporting public welfare initiatives.
